The Born at Home documentary explores and uncovers the empowering journey of homebirth, shedding light on the often overlooked and misunderstood option that has transformed lives. Born at Home dives into real stories of women navigating birth trauma and examines how a shift in environment and informed choices can reshape the birthing experience.
Wisdom is shared from homebirth families, interwoven with evidence-based information from midwives, medical professionals, doulas, researchers and maternity advocates.

Born at Home was created by friends and homebirth mothers Amanda Banks and Eleanor Currie. We filmed a bunch of content ourselves but relied on the generosity of our local birth photographers, videographers and families to contribute additional labour, birth and hospital footage to provide the rich tapestry of homebirth experiences that you witness on the screen. If you are QLD, Australia based and looking for an incredible birth or family photographer or videographer or even if you’d like to be inspired by birth footage, check out our talented photo and video contributors page.
Born at Home was 100% funded by the filmmakers
All donations go towards getting the film in schools and education centres and the creation of our next film
